Start of regular operations of ID Austria
Regular operations of ID Austria will start on 5 December 2023
- The pilot phase of ID Austria (and thus the parallel operation of mobile signature and ID Austria) ends on December 4, 2023.
- From this day onwards, ID Austria will be required instead to log in to web and app services for which the mobile phone signature could previously be used.
- Users of a mobile signature must convert their signature to an ID Austria in order to continue using services. This can be done easily and conveniently via an online process.
What does this mean for current users of the mobile signature?
- When logging in for the first time with a mobile signature from December 5, 2023, users will be automatically guided through the necessary steps to switch over.
What does this mean for current ID Austria users?
- This means no changes for ID Austria users. They will retain all functions and their login credentials.
How does the switch work?
The switch to ID Austria takes place in two steps.
- The switch to ID Austria with basic function enables the same range of functions as the mobile signature and will be carried out automatically when registering from December 5, 2023.
- For the upgrade to ID Austria with full functionality – with its new features such as ID cards on smartphones – there are two different variants. The decisive factor is whether the original issuance of the mobile signature was carried out through official registration (and thus official identification).

Electronic signature:
