To bring some clarity to the current situation surrounding YubiKeys and their support by A-Trust and ID-Austria, here is the most important information for you (as of September 11, 2024):
- If you already use a YubiKey with firmware 5.4 and have linked it to ID Austria, you don't need to worry - it will continue to work without any problems.
- However, new YubiKeys with firmware 5.4 can no longer be registered with A-Trust. This means that this version is no longer supported for new users.
- YubiKeys with firmware 5.7 are currently pending Level 2 certification with the FIDO Alliance. We expect certification by the end of September. Once certification is complete, these YubiKeys can be used for ID Austria.
How do I find out what firmware my YubiKey has?
To find out your YubiKey's firmware version, you can use the YubiKey Manager . Simply connect your YubiKey, open the software, and you'll see your device's firmware version.
